How to piss Anna off at work

  1. While she is a project leader for a high-profile project, go behind her back and assign a different project to her only front-end developer. It’s best done if you don’t have the authority to assign projects to a release. Also, don’t tell her about it. Hopefully the project is under a deadline. With any luck, you will impact her time line by stealing her resource.
  2. If you are working on the project, try to ignore your projects and work on “fun” stuff instead. In fact, let’s try to work on as many projects as possible. This way we don’t actually get anything done.

The week of 5/12 (I think) - I submitted the HOA Architectural Review form.

The week of 5/26 (I think) - I called the property management company to inquire about the status of our approval. They said that the HOA committee meets the 2nd week of every month and that they weren’t able to get to it in the May meeting. She said that ours was the next on the list.

The week of 6/9 - I called the HOA property management company again. They said that they requested an update from the HOA, but they haven’t heard anything yet.

The week of 6/23 - I called the HOA property management company twice this week.
Both times I left a message. I always call a different times, and they never seem to be in the office.

6/30 - The management company called. They said that they have requested updates several times with no response. She suggested requesting an update on the website. She also said that she would let me know when the next meeting is so that we can attend.

6/30 - I filled out an online form on the HOA website to request more information. No response.

7/7 - I emailed one of the HOA architectural board members directly asking for an update. No response.

7/15 - Matt called the management company. He told them that we submitting the form 2 months ago and we have not heard back. The property manager said she would call him back “in a short while”. At 4:45pm, Matt called back and both the property manager and the assistant were gone for the day.

7/16 - The property manager called Matt. She said that she has a meeting with the HOA Board of Directors on 7/22. This meeting is closed, so we can not attend. Matt told her that he would call back on 7/23 expecting an answer.

7/23 - Matt called the property manager around 4pm. She had already left for the day.

7/25 - I called the property manager and WE GOT THE APPROVAL!!!!

Finally, we can paint our house!! It only took 2 1/2 months!

I am super excited for the X-Files movie coming out this weekend!!!!
The X-Files is my favorite TV show of all time. So, seeing Mulder and Scully together again warrants a celebration.
Here are a few of my favorite things (from the X-Files):

Life…is like a box of chocolates Poem
This is a poem written by the cigarette-smoking man. While it is somewhat of a depressing poem, I can’t help but smile when I read it.

Life…is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that no one ever asks for. Unreturnable because all you get back is another box of chocolates. So, you’re stuck with mostly indefinable whipped mint crap, mindlessly wolfed down when there’s nothing else to eat while you’re watching the game. Sure, once in a while you get a peanut butter cup or an English toffee, but it’s gone too fast and the taste is fleeting. In the end, you’re left with nothing but broken bits filled with hardened jelly and teeth shattering nuts, which if you are desperate enough to eat leaves nothing but an empty box of useless brown paper wrappers.

Jose Chung’s From Outer Space
Here are some clips from one of my favorite episodes, Jose Chung’s From Outer Space. The first scene is my favorite!

Post Modern Prometheus
This is the very end of the episode - Mulder and Scully made friends with the Frankenstein-like monster. This is awesome.

…okay, now I am going to go watch the X-Files…

gone fishin’

July 15, 2008 on 9:53 pm | In Uncategorized | No Comments

This past weekend, we went to Bennett Springs State Park to go fishing with my parents. It was a successful trip in that we all caught at least one fish. I caught three!
At one point, my Dad tried to teach us how to fly fish. I was pretty pleased with myself when I caught a fish with the fly rod. Unfortunately though, 10 minutes later, I slipped on some rocks, fell, and my waders started taking on water. It was a bit embarrassing. I didn’t think much water got in, but I was soaked. So, I spent the rest of the day in the only extra clothing that we had with us. A t-shirt and a pair of camouflage sweat pants…stylish!

In addition to the fishing, I took a basket weaving class with my Mom. Now, I can make a basket out of grass. Jealous aren’t ya?

We couldn’t help ourselves. It was just too funny.

She keeps up for awhile…then you’ll see she starts to fall over (while Matt laughs hysterically in the background).
