no more sitting on the floor
September 29, 2008 on 6:06 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsMatt and I ordered some new living room furniture. I am so sick of having to sit on the floor when we have more than 2 people over! Thank goodness that won’t be the case anymore!
We bought a sofa, a recliner, and a chair from Nebraska Furniture Mart. They are all in black leather and apart of Natuzzi’s 906 Collection.
We’ll have the chairs shortly, but the sofa wasn’t in stock, so we’ll have to wait till January.

We still need to buy an upholstered chair, end tables, and a coffee table/ottoman.
Since all this furniture is black, we plan to pick an upholstered chair to introduce some color into the space and then get coordinating accent pieces. Mel, how am I doing?
We’re not sure what to do for a coffee table or ottoman. Matt really wants a place to put his feet up, but I’d like some storage and somewhat of a sturdy surface for drinks and such.
the pile-up
September 21, 2008 on 10:06 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsThis weekend, Matt and I were in a four-car pile-up.
We are okay, but the car has seen better days.
Car 4 rear-ended car 3, who then rear-ended us, which caused us to rear-end car 1.
Here is our car (and car 3):
And here is a picture of car 4:
down the toilet
September 20, 2008 on 10:27 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsLast night we finally bought a cheap metal bowl to move the cats to the next level of potty training.
We placed the metal bowl (filled with litter) inside the toilet bowl. It doesn’t fit perfectly, but I think it will do.
Lugnut and Tina were immediately curious. They both pawed around the litter in the bowl. Within a few minutes, Tina did her duty! This was encouraging to see, and it was kinda funny. The downside is that she was completely sitting in the litter versus sitting on the toilet seat propped over the litter. I’m not sure how hard it is going to be to get them to sit on the seat instead. That part might take awhile.
I’ll let you know how it goes!
Hired Painter
September 19, 2008 on 4:03 pm | In Uncategorized | 1 CommentWe finally hired someone to paint our house. He has painted a lot of houses in our subdivision and he is giving everyone the same standard rate. We are also having him repair some siding and trim board. He has a full plate, so he thinks he’ll be able to start in October sometime. Hopefully, it won’t be much longer than that.
yelling at strangers
September 19, 2008 on 4:03 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsSo, I was in Springfield for about 3 hours yesterday. I drove down to give a presentation to AITP. I wanted to see everyone, but there wasn’t really time. After the presentation ended at 7:30 pm, I had to drive back home and get to bed because I had a 7:30 am meeting this morning.
At one point I was walking across campus, and I swear I saw Gabby. So I yelled out, “Hey Gabby!”. But the poor gentlemen did not respond…I must have looked like an idiot.
Being on campus made me miss college. There is something about a college campus that somehow gives you energy and hope for the future. I don’t know why I was in such a rush to graduate and get a job.
