relieved
October 27, 2008 on 4:10 pm | In Uncategorized | 1 CommentIts now been 24 hours since Tina vomited last. I gave her small amounts of water and food, which she has been able to keep down so far. This afternoon, I took her to the vet for a follow-up after Saturday’s ER visit. Temperature and everything looked good. They injected her with some more fluids, suggested some high-fiber foods, and gave us some meds.
As long as she doesn’t start vomiting again, I think she is out of the woods. Yay!
long (and gross) day
October 26, 2008 on 1:37 pm | In Uncategorized | 1 CommentYesterday, I had two parties to attend. The first was a pumpkin carving party at one of my co-workers. Matt woke up early that morning, with either the stomach flu or food poisoning. After a little while, he started to feel better, but we thought it would be best if he stayed home just in case he were to get sick again. So I went to the party with out him.
Upon my return, I found out that he was still sick. I decided to skip the second party to stay home, make him something to eat, run to the store to get him some 7-up, etc.
It was a good thing I decided to stay home. Earlier that day our cat, Tina ate several pieces of my loofah. I didn’t notice it until she started vomiting. There in the midst of some undigested food, was a small piece of my pink loofah. It didn’t stop there though. She kept puking. I took her into the emergency vet, where he ran some x-rays and gave her some shots to relax her digestive track. From what he could tell, there weren’t any obstructions. He said that generally speaking, it should pass in about 24 hours if it is small enough to do so. He said that if she is still vomiting after that, then there are other steps (surgery) that need to be taken.
Once I took her home, the vomiting continued most of the night. Earlier that day, it started off looking like food. Then it got watery. Once I brought her home from the vet, it started to look like blood. That was the scariest part. The most recent vomit was white and foamy.
The last time she vomited was about 7 or 8 this morning. Around 1pm today, I started giving her small amounts of water. So far she’s been able to keep it down. If she does then I’ll start giving her some food as well.
Keep your fingers crossed.

October 16, 2008 on 5:45 pm | In Uncategorized | No CommentsNow that we are all out of school and in the workforce, do you ever miss learning? Or do you continually learn new things at your job?
In my case, I’ve been managing the same project for awhile now, and I miss learning things. I want to pick up a new skill or figure something out that I didn’t know before. I hear that I’ll get an opportunity to learn flash for work here in a little while. That would be cool. Otherwise I feel like I’m just doing the same thing over and over again.
