once upon a time…
April 2, 2005 on 10:48 pm | In Uncategorized |Matt and I went to Chicago for spring break. I’ll try to make the account short, so I may have to leave some things out.
Everyone goes somewhere warm and we did the complete opposite and headed for the windy city.
I must give a big shout out to Sarah for helping us find a great place to stay. You Rock!
On Monday we checked out Millenium Park . Unfortunately, the big bean was still covered. We ate dinner at this pizza joint called, “Got Pizza.” They had several cans of tomato sauce decorating the top of their counter. The brand was none other than “Saporito.” We asked if I could get my picture taken with one of the cans, and they gave me the whole can. So now i have 1 gallon of Saporito Tomato Paste. I thought that was cool. That night we walked up and down Navy Pier.
Tuesday, we went to the Art Institute of Chicago. It was pretty neat. That evening we ate dinner at the Signature Room which is on the 95th floor of the Hancock building (We were higher than the observation deck!). It is fancier than any restaurant I have ever been to. It was amazing. We had dinner overlooking all of chicago as it got dark. It was beautiful! It looked as if everyone in the city held up candles for us to see. After dinner we walked up one more floor (96th) to the Signature Lounge for drinks. After which, we found a horse-drawn carriage waiting for us outside, with a dozen roses for me. Our carriage ride took us all around the city. It was awesome in a really strange way. Here we were in the middle of downtown Chicago–a city where the taxi drivers are crazy and everyone is always in a rush with their hand on the horn, and we are trudging along in a carriage pulled by 1 horse. “That’s right Chicago, this is as fast as this horse goes. Go around!” LOL Anyway…Towards the end of our carriage ride, Matt got down on his knee (while the carriage is still moving i may add), and proposed! Thats right…read it again if you want…Matt Proposed!! It was perfect and needless-to-say I accepted. When we got back to the hotel there was a beautiful vase and another dozen red roses waiting for us.
Wednesday, We went to the Museum of Science and Industry, and then went out to eat with my brother Tony and his girlfriend, Diana.
Thursday, we went to the Field Museum and Shedd’s Aquarium. We then walked accross town to meet up with Matt’s friend Grant, who lives in the area. He showed us around, we did a little shopping (Express had a big sale going on!!), and we ate dinner where Grant works, at Big Bowl.
Friday we checked out of the hotel, ate lunch with Tony, and left the city.
That was my break in a nutshell. Hopefully, I’ll talk to everyone soon!
**Matt is uploading pictures of our trip as i type, so I’ll add some to my post soon**

WOW all I can say is congrats…. you two are awesome, I can’t wait for the wedding…. I think it should be STAR WARS themed! haha and have an R2 unit as the ringbearer! Instead of “Here comes the bride” it would be the “Celebration Song” from ANH! Stormtroopers as groomsman ohh.. that would be great. Im sure you guys would get lots of media attention too! Once again congrats.
